EXCELLENT VTG Eddie Bauer Goose Down Sleeping Bag Original Totem Label

  

This vintage Eddie Bauer goose down sleeping bag is a very early design, as it does not have a zipper. Toggle closure for the chard around the face opening. This bag has been stored loose, which has kept the down light and fluffy. It has very minor signs of use, is free of stains, odors yet with a couple of very small holes (so small you can not thread repair them) in excellent condition throughout considering the minor noted holes, which don't even really leak. This bag has the original Eddie Bauer "Totem tag" that reads : "For the Rest of Your Life".

The fabric is ripstop nylon throughout, outside in blue in color the inside is a red orange color. Measurements: 32" wide x 81" in length when completely flat, measurements are approximate. During World War II, Bauer's parkas, backpacks, pants, and sleeping bags were standard issue for American troops. Bauer was able to solve several problems for the military.

Air Force was looking for a tougher, and more cost-effective silk-alternative for parachutes and nylon fit the bill. Parachute manufacturers are credited with designing the first-known ripstop nylon fabrics.
